While the retail industry is statistically America’s largest private sector employer, most of retail could actually fall under the “world’s smallest employer” category. In fact, 77 percent of retailers operate with fewer than 10 employees.

Retail is kind of a big deal in the small business category. Among all companies with fewer than 10 employees, one out of every seven is a retailer. But there’s much more to small retail businesses than meets the eye. In honor of National Small Business Week, take a look at this infographic to see which sectors are mostly made of small businesses.
