It seems the well-known retail criminals didn’t get the memo.
On Monday night of NRF’s Loss Prevention Conference, CVS’s National Manager for Organized Retail Crime Tony Sheppard literally ran into a well-known booster heavily involved in ORC while at Harrah’s Casino in New Orleans. Confident that the suspect had active warrants, Sheppard called Brendan Dugan from Walgreens to confirm. Dugan, who was also in town for NRF’s conference, verified that, yes, the arrest warrant for this booster was still active but they needed law enforcement to confirm. Both work closely together on cases involving the suspect so with the groundwork laid and the booster in sight, Sheppard looped in the New Orleans State Police who confirmed the warrants and arrested the suspect on Tuesday about 1pm.
Case in point: When it comes to cooperation and partnership at LP ’12, there’s no better story than retailers and local law enforcement uniting to bring a professional booster to justice.
