Covering 10 digital trends for 2010 in less than 20 minutes isn’t easy, but Resource Interactive‘s Dan Shust managed to do just that yesterday afternoon.
I’m going to be a real tease this morning and share only three of them with you – in no particular order, but don’t worry, I’ll include a video below so you can watch the man himself share one of the tips.
1. Everyone is a Salesperson – The first thing you have to do to allow customers to sell on your behalf is to enable them. This means making it easy to share. For example, Rugby Ralph Lauren allows customers to customize a rugby shirt through an iPhone app and then easily share it with friends to rate.
2. Game Mechanics – Consider how many sites allow you to compare a personal statistic. On Facebook, do you have more friends than your neighbor? On Twitter, do you have more fans than your boss? Retailers, too, can utilize this strategy. Nike+ helps members track how many miles they’ve run, but also lets you trash talk with fellow runners about your running history.
3. Content. Not Campaigns. – I’ll leave the talking to Dan, himself:

#3 is doesn’t seem like such a “radical future” concept given that SAAS based marketing platform that allow consumers to pick the information they want, where they want it and when they want it are commercially available today. Also, the analytics being collected can already be leveraged for fine tuning content deliver based on geoIP, time or market. So, content based on a specific individual might not be that far off. I would change the word ‘radical’ to ‘near’.
