Etsy connects with customers

matthew_stinchcomb1-183x300Shop.org has conducted a series of blog interviews they call “Talking with…” The interviews have covered topics such as web globalization, marketing to new customers, the state of online retail, and what to look for when hiring great people.

The most recent “Talking with” picks the brain of  Etsy VP, Matt Stinchcomb.

In his elevator speech about Etsy, Matt says part of Etsy’s success is attributed to the personal connection the buyer has with the seller: “When you buy on Etsy you are dealing directly with the maker of any given product, and people want to have a special connection to the goods in their lives. These connections make the stories behind every product and artist on Etsy, and it is our job to help tell them.”
